We met at the Chaminade Resort in Santa Cruz, California over some warm August days. Our conversations ranged broadly over many issues. Chris Schoch, an expert in culture and in building cultural competency led in a discussion over cross-cultural implications in recruiting. Verna Allee, one of our distinguished faculty and the author of numerous books and articles on social networks, gave us an overview of her recent research and work.
We talked about the power of unstructured thinking and Jay Cross exposed us to the concept of teh "unconference" -- an event where the agenda and topics emerge and there is no structure or preplanned outcomes.
Then we all went sea kayaking at Moss Landing where we saw huge sea lions and rowed through the choppy waters at the entrance to Monterey Bay.
