Envisioning the Workforce of 2015

Regional Learning Events

We hold a series of half-day Learning Events in selected cities globally each year.  Learning Events are geared towards leaders in talent acquisition, learning and development, organizational development, workforce planning, human resources influencing the talent strategies in their organizations.

The purpose of these Learning Events  is to introduce the Institute to leaders in organizations who are not yet aware of what we do, reconnect with our current members, and gather insight into emerging issues. Each Learning Event is hosted at a local organization and includes updates on the latest research and trends as well as an interactive learning session.

Amsterdam Future of Talent Summit, “From Control to Leadership” – Sept. 29-30, 2011

The Future of Talent Institute will be holding a Summit in Utrecht the Netherlands on September 29 and 30. This highly interactive experience will prepare and empower leaders in talent, learning, and recruiting to thrive in the current volatile and uncertain global business environment.  In an “Unconference” setting, participants will  experience state of the art collaboration techniques, including games and visuals. They will engage in deep conversations. The Summit will be hosted by the Compagnon, the professional recruitment, career development and outplacement agency.

This is a critical time for talent leaders to see their pivotal role in the future of organizations. Human Resources and talent leaders hold the key to business success with their focus on the individual worker.  To be effective, new leadership skills and mind-sets are needed.  In this Future of Talent Summit, we will explore the theme: “From Control to Leadership.”  What are the hidden drivers of change in the workplace? How can we identify external events that will impact the business landscape over the next four years? What strategies will enable you to take positive advantage of future disruptions? What are myths of best practices? What are the new ways to approach problems?

The Summit features Kevin Wheeler, founder of Future of Talent Institute (www.futureoftalent.org).  Based in Silicon Valley, Wheeler has been developing forecasts and thought leadership on the topics of talent and learning for 30 years, helping cross-industry companies and government agencies adapt to accelerating change through highly accurate future forecasts.  He founded the Future of Talent Institute 10 years ago in response to growing frustration over global challenges in talent.  Wheeler is an author, widely read columnist and speaker on the topic of talent.  At the Summit, he will present Talent Trends for 2011-2015.

Also featured is author and visual journalist Eileen Clegg, who was a pioneer in understanding the role of creativity in daily work.  Author of the New Harbinger book, Claiming Your Creative Self, she has been a popular speaker as well as a researcher in think tanks to explore how learning and creativity can add value to companies. During the Amsterdam Future of Talent Summit, Eileen will involve participants in visual activities to facilitate new insights about recruitment, development, and retention of talent.

The third speaker is Sandor Snoeren. He is the author of the soon to be published book, Strategic Recruitment Management. The book contains several strategic models which supports recruitment departments in their evolution towards a strategic high impact HR discipline. Sandor has 11 years of experience in educating and consulting in the strategic recruitment arena.

The “Unconference” format will enable participants to learn from one another as well as from experts.  With Wheeler’s forecast, we will examine the implications and strategies. We will also learn from game designers who will provide us with a collaboration methodology as a new way to approach challenges in the talent world. Participants will experience new communication techniques, which they can take back to their companies along with strategies to prepare for the future.

The Future of Talent summit will take place in the beautiful Grand Hotel Karel V in the historic city of Utrecht, the Netherlands. The costs for this two day event are € 950,- for each attendee, including dinner on Thursday September 29.
